Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been earned on hardcourt

A comeback Daniil Medvedev won his initial trophy for 882 days with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament championship match.

The Russian, a ex- top-ranked player, has endured a torrid year, achieving just one match at the Grand Slams and experiencing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's varied form on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his service game in especial - led to him falling of the top ten and ultimately splitting with long-term coach Gilles Cervara.

Currently working with Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently progressed in the past month - peaking in a hard-fought competitive triumph over Frenchman Moutet.

This represents his first trophy following the Rome competition and first on a hard court from spring of the previous year.

Victory also signifies Medvedev has won 21 victories at 21 different events.

"For the first time I'm at a tournament with my children at once, so to get a championship is especially meaningful," said tennis professional the champion.

"This championship is in dedication of my second daughter her name, because the initial championship I got when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had failed in his past six finals, including in that event earlier this year.

The player's defensive approach and recurring reactions on the tennis court had caused observers to wonder if his ability to play at the highest level was finished.

Yet the player has altered his approach in the last few weeks, attempting to come to the net and play assertively, supported by an better serve.

He came back from a disadvantage in the first set against the difficult opponent, winning 4 of the concluding five exchanges to go ahead.

Both players swapped breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, striving for his first tour title, gained dominance to force a third set.

Moutet defended 4 early break points in a competitive deciding set before the champion broke to fifteen to close out the victory.

Fittingly, Medvedev earned the title with a shot at the net, with the Frenchman failing to handle a volley after over two and a half hours.
